I have a new love for 2011

Inspired by certain blogging pals in the UK and down under, I have taken up patchwork with gusto. Unfortunately my stash of fabric does not match my enthusiasm nor indeed does the bank balance, but its coming on a pace and I have invested a little online....will show you when they arrive.

Meanwhile on a little trip to Cambridge to return H's Christmas jumper from us three girls(he hated it!), I spotted this absolute bargain in John Lewis. Orla Kiely bedding.
Maybe not the most exiting bargain to some but I love her designs and it was an absolute must have for the price. Luckily H liked this purchase but cannot believe that I would post a picture of it on the bed nor that anyone would be interested!.......ha ha he just doesn't understand

This is  a new cushion that may be on its way to the Netherlands, it just needs a bit of blocking and making up(and the ends sewing in of course!). I have used merino wool so it is lovely and soft
Finally we have just put eldest on the train back to uni with all her bags......will miss her just off to clear the mess she has left in her room .......

  1. Hi hun
    Lovely to say hi!
    Love your crochet....
Our son goes back to Uni this eve too...I know what you mean about the mess!!
I LOVE patchworking. I try to mix vintage and new fabrics together to help with the cost!
Have you tried Kisco in Leics? It's called The Fabric Guild and you can order online.

  6. Love the bedding!! Patchwork is a lovely hobby - you can pick it up or put it down whenever. My daughter is going to commute for the next 2 weeks as she doesnt have full lessons till 1st Feb!! Her bedrooom is a skunk pit! xxxxx

  7. Just got home after delivering a daughter to Nottingham and a son to Liverpool! The house seems so quiet and empty !!!

  8. I just adore your beautiful projects. I have just finished my first cushion cover, Summer Garden Squares, too. Pic on my blog. As for the patchwork, your fabrics are fantastic. All my favorite colors, pink, green, blue, and orange. Love it, can't wait to see what it becomes.

  9. What a lovely start to patchwork, I love your combination of fabrics in those hexies, so pretty.
Of course you have to post photos of new bed linen and I can understand why you snapped it up, it's very nice indeed, and great that H liked it too.
You always have such beautiful combinations of colours in your crochet cushions, this is another stunner!

  10. Hi Elsy:
Just a quick note to let you know I gave you some hints on my flickr page in regards to the Granny Pot Holder. Please let me know if you give it a try!

PS Just wondering, when you came to the fork in the road, which way did you take?

  11. oh I would love a patchwork quilt but I haven`t got the patence for sewing.
Tell "H" I like the bedding, sehr schön. I also love Cambridge I used to stay with a frend in Longstanton they have a Wind Mile in there garden. We used to shopp in Cambridge and they have this lovely cake shop there where they bake big easter biscuits in all sorts of shapes. Who knows I might go back there again sometime if its just for the biscuits.

  12. Now you've started patchworking - there will be no stopping you, I love it.
    Great bedding by the way!

  13. A late thank you for your lovely comment on my blog, happy New Year Elsy!

  14. That beddin is gorgeous ! Just my colour scheme so I might have to look on line !

    Patchwork & crochet looking good.

Jess has picked up a sick bug & keeps calling out " Muuuum " everytime she dashes to the bathroom. She's like a little girl again & not 18. I bought her some orange ice lollies yesterday to cool her down a bit.

  15. That cushion is gorgeous - I love the colours. The bed-linen is nice too.
